| BNA Digital Plant Communication
System functions can be described in three sections as detailed
below, from the point of view of call establishment. |
| A.
PLANT COMMUNICATION STATION (PCS): |
MODE
1 CALL CONNECTIVITY THROUGH PAGE CHANNEL:
In this mode of operation a user dials the Pre defined number
on the Plant Communication module and pages for a person and
requests him to cal back. Whenever the paged person presses
the response button a totally private conversation gets established
between the caller and the called party. |
| |
MODE
2 SELECTIVE CALLING :
In this mode, a user might decide to establish a communication
with another person who is known to be available at a desk /
or plant room. In such a case, he directly dials up the number
of the person and the called party answers the call when he
is alerted by a bell and (optional) flashing light indicators.
Here again the conversation is full private mode. It may be
noted that if this of calling fails to locate the called person
then the caller might use page mode to locate him and establish
communication. |
B.
MASTER HANDSET STATION (MHS):
The functional description of the Master handset station can
also be divided into three parts from the point of view of call
establishment. |
MODE
1 NORMAL MODE:
All master handset stations are desk-mounted type and have all
the features found in the normal plant stations. Additionally
they have group selection switches and all-call switches, (Optional)
Direct call, Siren Switches. The console is equipped with handset
as well as gooseneck microphone to enable the master station
to make hands-free announcements. Multiple master stations are
also supported. |

|
|
MODE
2 NORMAL MODE WITH PRE-PROGRAMED FUNCTION KEYS:
In this mode of operation, a function key is used to establish
call connectivity to a particular plant station or another master
station. The call establishment is as in the case of selective
calling. This function enables the master station to establish
fast connectivity to a set of stations with which it has frequent
connection requirements. |
MODE
3 DESPATCHER MODE:
In this mode the master station can be supplemented with an
(Optional) console, which may contain a mimic panel of the communications
network. In this case push button switches are provided on the
mimic panel itself and these switches can be used in either
selective call mode or direct call establishment modes. In selective
call mode, the called party has to answer the call and in direct
call establishment mode, the called party’s page line
gets switched and grouped so that a single announcement may
be made by the master station in page mode. This enables the
dispatcher to establish two way communication with a selected
group of stations in the fastest possible way. |
B.
C. STATION INTERFACE MODULE (SIM):
The station Interface Module provides all the additional functions
that are expected from the Plant Communication equipment when
normal station equipments are used in microprocessor plants
system. Thus the keypad for the selective number calling, the
LED indicator and the optional function keys are all provided
at the SIM, which is mounted in the conventional wall, mounted
plant communication station. |
